It’s embarrassing, but it’s not surprising. It’s not out of character, and it’s not the first time.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting today that Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Representative of Georgia’s 4th Congressional District, struck a police officer in an altercation which took place yesterday.
McKinney, not wearing her identification and not wearing a pin which Congresspersons traditionally wear to identify themselves, allegedly attempted to walk around a metal detector. This is generally allowed (although in my opinion it shouldn’t be.) The officer manning the entrance didn’t recognize McKinney, and apparently either tapped her on the shoulder or grabbed her shoulder to halt her progress. McKinney then reportedly whirled and struck the officer.
I have no idea how a woman so prone to racial sensationalism, so clearly possessed of a world-class bad attitude, and so drunk with power continues to get herself elected to public office. I’m deeply ashamed of the fact that she’s in Washington representing my adoptive home state. It’s one more reason I don’t belong here. If I could find the ejection handle, I’d pull it!
